Push Your Limits
Do something invigorating. You won't regret it.
This morning, I woke up knowing I had a long day of work ahead. I snoozed my alarm. I made my pot of coffee. I threw my hair up in a bun and told myself to get moving. I call this my routine.
Most days, my routine does the opposite of excite me.
I was so in my zone, I almost forgot I had a big challenge in front of me today. I was tasked with doing some content editing and writing for a new client at work, which both thrilled and scared the crap out of me at the same time. I love writing, but it's not a skill I've practiced much in the last year.
It's usually an obstacle for me just to get into a writing mindset, and it definitely didn't help being under the pressures of a deadline and meeting high expectations from the client. So, I did what any savvy professional should do. I pulled out the diffuser.
I needed more than just a nice scent. I needed a blend for focus, creativity, intelligence, confidence... and, unfortunately, bathing in Frankincense was out of the question at this point.
I went with a "Push the Limits" blend - 2 drops each of Black Pepper, Lime, Frankincense, and Orange.
Within two hours, not only was my work complete, but I actually felt great about it. And to top it off, I was told my content was "outstanding."
Can you say, sigh of relief?
I went into the afternoon feeling refreshed, energized, and invigorated. I tackled a difficult challenge, I met my deadline, and I came out with good results. Call it a coincidence, but I think I really pushed my limits (pun intended).

The truth of this story is that our passions, the things we love doing, sometimes test us. They aren't always easy and they make us step out of our daily routine and comfort zone to accomplish something greater. They remind us of what we're meant to do, and they truly invigorate us.
With all that being said, it's okay to need that boost to push you in the right direction. Today, mine came in the form of an incredible diffuser blend, one I'll definitely keep in the books for future use. The best part is that I'm excited for tomorrow, and I'm even looking forward to that next ambitious assignment.
So tell me, what will you do to push you limits today, tomorrow, this week? I challenge you to do something that requires you to demand more from yourself, I challenge you to do something invigorating.
I promise, you won't regret it.
I promise, you won't regret it.

I have had the privilege of having this amazing lady working from home for a little while. She truly represents the best of her generation and of today's "work world" employee.
ReplyDeleteShe is up and ready to go every morning. She doesn't leave her desk to do "non" work things and works hard all day. The coffee isn't far away so she isn't distracted for long and the music is low, so as not to disrupt her to much. The dog, who loves to lay by her, barks all throughout the day enough to take care of that!
When I was in the office years ago, we didn't have the option to work from home. Not sure I would be so focused. Not sure I wouldn't go start my laundry, dinner or even sneak my laptop in front of the TV so that I could catch my soap.
Not this girl! I couldn't be prouder of the adult she has become and her commitment to the job at hand.
Also, she does keep the place smelling amazing! I may have even been slightly "invigorated" and got a few extra things done around the house as the diffuser worked its magic. I wont complain about that for sure!
I will miss her when she leaves to live in Florida soon but will hope to read all about her days in this blog.
Keep going Becca - we are all interested!
