The Age of the Independent Distributor

We all know somebody who's selling on social media. Facebook groups, live videos, online parties... you name it, my feed is filled with it these days.

And now here I am, writing a blog about essential oils and possibly hoping you'll be interested enough to either buy some products off me, or join my team. Cliche, I know. But here's the thing. We're all selling something we believe in. LulaRoe leggings can be your most comfortable pants. LipSense probably does make you look and feel gorgeous. And Norwex's cleaning supplies are your dream come true. What's so wrong with that?

I know what you're already saying, "I can buy the same things at Target for way cheaper." While that may be semi-true, and neither of us are going to stop shopping at Target anytime soon, there's a reason these specific companies and products are not available in stores.

And while I can't do much talking about the previously mentioned companies, this is where Young Living's essential oils come into play for me.

Yes, you can indeed buy "essential oils" from Target. Who hasn't bought that bottle of lavender that promised to help you sleep better? (But then it actually didn't work, and now you feel betrayed by oils). The reason that bottle didn't work is because it was not pure. I don't care what the bottle said, it was lying to you. The bottle is allowed to lie to you.

I'll say it louder for the people in the back:

THE BOTTLE IS ALLOWED TO LIE TO YOU.

The FDA allows essential oil companies to say they are 100% pure if they contain 5% pure essential oils. That means the other 95% of the bottle can be filled with whatever the company wants to fill it with. Scary, right?

So listen here. I don't care if you never buy Young Living essential oils, but please promise me you will NEVER buy drug store essential oils, unless you like wasting your money.

The good news is, Young Living essential oils are actually 100% pure. I'm not just saying that because I sell them, I'm selling them because they are. The company only produces oils that come from virgin farms. They're extremely selective, and have scientists on scene to pick the plants at their peak. If a plant is not perfect, they will not produce the oil. And they occasionally run out of stock because of this.

But that alone is not the reason I decided to get on the Young Living essential oils train. There are many many reasons that I won't get into right now, because I have another agenda in mind.

We all run to social media for our own reasons, whether it's for family updates, drama, friendships, or even Candy Crush (do people still play that?) And the age of the independent distributor is making it hard to get away. But here's a tip: give those distributors a chance. They're working hard, possibly to help pay student loans, afford a big purchase, retire early, or simply just because they want to share a product they love. It's a combination of all of those things for me, if you were curious.

Like they say, don't knock it before you try it. You could just fall in love, too.
